One of the biggest disputes in the streaming video world was resolved today when Google and Roku agreed to a long-term agreement to keep both YouTube TV and YouTube on the Roku streaming platform.
Since April of 2021, the YouTube TV app has not been available for download on Roku devices. That happened after the two companies could not come to an agreement on a variety of technology issues. While the YouTube app was still available, Roku had threatened to remove it too on December 9.
With this deal in place, people who rely on YouTube TV and Roku for streaming video should feel good about future stability.
